On Sunday, March 16th, the prominent Chinese semi-submersible transport vessel, HUA HAI LONG, docked at the Rotterdam Caland Canal after a lengthy 51-day journey from Singapore. This arrival marks a significant step in the maritime logistics and offshore drilling sector, as the HUA HAI LONG prepared for the crucial offloading of the Jack-up rig ENSCO 121. Following a comprehensive ballasting process, the rig was efficiently offloaded with the assistance of several powerful SMIT tugs, including the SMIT CHEETAH, UNION GRIZZLY, SMIT PANTHER, and SMIT EBRO. These tugs played an essential role in towing the ENSCO 121 to the Keppel Verolme shipyard, located in Rotterdam-Botlek, ensuring a seamless transition for this vital offshore asset.

On the morning of June 11, Gibraltar welcomed the highly anticipated floating hotel, Sunborn Gibraltar, which made its arrival via the Chinese heavy-lifter submersible vessel, Hua Hai Long. As reported by the company's owners, weather conditions permitting, the float-off operations from the transportation vessel are set to begin today. With the assistance of tugs, the hotel will glide into Gibdock utilizing its own propulsion system, preparing for some minor preliminary works. Brian Stevendale, the CEO of Sunborn Gibraltar, expressed his excitement, stating, 'This is a monumental occasion for Gibraltar, marking the arrival of the world's first five-star yacht hotel to our shores.'
