Baleària has officially launched its liquefied natural gas (LNG) ro-pax vessel, HYPATIA DE ALEJANDRÍA, on the pivotal Barcelona-Alcúdia-Ciutadella route. This new service significantly strengthens the connections between the Spanish mainland and the Balearic Islands, while also enhancing inter-island transport within the archipelago. This development is especially beneficial for Menorca, the second-largest island in the Balearics with a population nearing 90,000. Notably, HYPATIA DE ALEJANDRÍA marks a historic milestone as the largest ro-pax vessel to ever berth at the Port of Ciutadella, located at the western tip of Menorca. The vessel's inauguration necessitated meticulous preparations, including the acquisition of a specialized tugboat. To facilitate her operations in Ciutadella, Baleària made a strategic investment in the newly constructed tug ROLON PLATA II from Damen Shipyards Group, purchased in late June.
