Wind Gusts Cause Container Collision with Crane at Lerwick Port
On January 31, 2014, an incident occurred at Lerwick Port involving the container ship 'Green Ice', which had just arrived from Tananger. While being unloaded, a sudden gust of wind caused a container to lose its stability, crashing into the crane cabin and resulting in significant damage to the structure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from this incident. Following the repairs and safety checks, the 'Green Ice' departed Lerwick on February 1 at approximately 7:30 p.m., setting sail for Harlingen with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) scheduled for February 3.
