Ichthys Venturer FPSO Arrives Safely in Australia
The Ichthys Venturer, an integral part of the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project, has officially docked in Australian waters as of August 14. This impressive floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit measures 336 meters in length and 59 meters in width and is set to permanently anchor in the Browse Basin, situated approximately 220 kilometers offshore from Western Australia. The FPSO embarked on its journey from Okpo, South Korea, on July 18, covering an astonishing 5,600 kilometers over a span of 26 days. Louis Bon, the Managing Director for the Ichthys Project, heralded this achievement as a major milestone, stating, 'The successful transportation of the Ichthys Venturer to Australian waters marks a significant advancement for the Ichthys LNG Project.' Designed to withstand cyclonic conditions, the FPSO boasts a storage capacity of 1.12 million barrels of condensate and is expected to operate efficiently for up to 40 years. Additionally, the facility can accommodate a workforce of up to 200 individuals, further enhancing operational capabilities. The Ichthys Venturer joins the Ichthys Project’s Central Processing Facility (CPF), known as Ichthys Explorer, which is recognized as the largest semi-submersible platform in the world and was recently moored safely in the Ichthys Field.
