A merchant vessel has been sold to breakers in Alang, India, known for its shipbreaking activities. This transaction marks another step in the lifecycle of maritime assets, as the ship is set to be dismantled and recycled in one of the world's largest shipbreaking yards. Alang is a crucial hub for decommissioning vessels, where the focus on sustainable practices is becoming increasingly prominent.

On February 24, 2021, the cargo vessel 'Tertnes' requested urgent medical assistance while navigating north of Stavanger, en route from Gulen to Dover. Tragically, the onboard medical team, including two medics delivered by helicopter, were unable to save the ship's captain, who succumbed to his condition. Following the emergency, the 'Tertnes' was redirected to Stavanger, where it docked on February 25. A post-mortem examination revealed that the captain had tested positive for COVID-19. In the wake of this incident, all 18 Filipino crew members underwent dual testing upon arrival, resulting in seven positive cases, although they exhibited no symptoms. Consequently, the crew has been placed in isolation and quarantine aboard the vessel. The medics who attended to the captain have also been quarantined, as have the pilots who boarded the ship on its last six voyages. As of February 27, 2021, the 'Tertnes' remains anchored in Mekjarvik, with precautionary measures in place to prevent further spread of the virus.
