Inase Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On August 1, five Filipino crew members aboard the vessel 'Inase' returned to Manila via Philippine Airlines Flight PR731, landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1. Prior to this group’s arrival, seven other Filipino crew members had already repatriated to the Philippines in two earlier batches on July 31. The seafarers were met by DMW Assistant Secretary Maria Regina Angela Galias and representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) alongside the Manila International Airport Authority Medical Team. The Migrant Workers Office in Bangkok played a crucial role in assisting these crew members during their journey home. Upon their arrival, the DMW and OWWA provided essential airport and financial assistance while ensuring that the MIAA Medical Team conducted thorough health assessments to evaluate the well-being of the returning crew. Representatives from Sea Gate Navigation Corp., the licensed manning agency for these seafarers, were also present at the airport to greet them. The DMW has emphasized the importance of medical care by directing the manning agency to arrange for physical and psychological evaluations for the returning seafarers, as well as to facilitate post-repatriation debriefing sessions to support their adjustment back to life in the Philippines. Meanwhile, the 'Inase' has set a course for Yalova for necessary repairs, with an estimated time of arrival on August 1.

In a concerning incident on July 18, 2026, the bulk carrier 'Inase', with a crew of 22 Filipino nationals, was hit by a mysterious projectile, believed to be a drone or missile, while docked at the Port of Yuzhny. The impact resulted in significant damage to the accommodation block, particularly affecting the B Deck area. The force of the strike not only compromised the vessel's superstructure but also sparked a fire on board. Thankfully, the crew managed to contain and extinguish the flames swiftly. Unfortunately, the attack resulted in two crew members sustaining injuries: one Able Seaman incurred a head injury, while a 2nd Officer suffered a hand injury. This event raises concerns over maritime security in the region, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance.
