Working Conditions Aboard the Inspiration-Lake

In a tragic maritime incident, four fishermen remain unaccounted for after their local fishing vessel collided with the bulk carrier 'Inspiratio Lake' off the southeastern coast of South Korea on January 10, 2017. The 74-ton fishing boat had a crew of seven when the accident occurred approximately 22 miles from the port city of Pohang around 2 p.m. Fortunately, three crew members, which included two Koreans and one Vietnamese, were rescued shortly after the collision. However, the search continues for the remaining four missing fishermen, comprising three Koreans and a Chinese national, who are believed to have fallen overboard during the incident. At the time of the crash, weather conditions were challenging, with winds reaching gusts of 8-10 meters per second and wave heights of 2-3 meters. The 'Inspiratio Lake' was reportedly on its way from Shanghai to Vostochniy when the collision took place. Efforts are ongoing to locate the missing individuals as emergency services remain focused on their search and rescue operations.
