Isartal Detained in Kocaeli Over Safety Concerns
On December 16, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Isartal' faced detention in Kocaeli, Turkiye, after being found with 12 regulatory deficiencies during a routine inspection. Notably, four of these deficiencies were classified as severe and warranted the detention of the vessel. The critical safety issues identified included non-compliance in fire safety measures, particularly: 1) Fire doors and openings in the fire-resisting division not meeting required standards, 2) Deficiencies in fire fighting equipment and appliances, 3) Failings in the fire detection and alarm systems, and 4) The vessel's ISM (International Safety Management) certificate was also found lacking. Following necessary rectifications, the 'Isartal' was released from detention on December 18 and subsequently set sail towards the Black Sea. This incident marks the vessel's last recorded detention, which previously occurred on January 14 in Chalkis.
Vessel 'Isartal' Detained in Chalkis Amidst Multiple Deficiencies
On January 14, 2025, the 'Isartal', a cargo ship, was detained in Chalkis due to a total of 13 identified deficiencies, five of which were deemed serious enough to warrant the detention. The serious issues included missing auxiliary machinery, inadequate auxiliary equipment, inoperative pumping, piping and discharge arrangements, insufficient oil retention measures on board, and a malfunctioning echo sounder that compromised safety of navigation. Following the detention, the vessel was released on February 4, 2025, but has since remained stationary at the port.
Collision Incident in Tuapse Port: M/V Isartal Strikes M/V Mira Akay
On the morning of December 19, 2020, an allision occurred at the port of Tuapse involving the cargo vessel m/v 'Isartal' and the m/v 'Mira Akay'. The Isartal, which was making its way from Constanta, had secured its position alongside the quay by 7 a.m. with the help of tugboats. However, the vessel unexpectedly surged forward, leading to a collision with the port side stern of the 'Mira Akay', which had arrived from Istanbul on December 18 at 3 p.m. This incident resulted in both vessels sustaining damage, including dented bulwarks and compromised hull plates. Freighter 'Isartal' Runs Aground Near Copenhagen
On the evening of April 11, 2013, the freighter 'Isartal' experienced an engine failure while departing from Prøvesten port in Copenhagen, causing it to run aground on nearby rocks. After several hours stranded at Prøvestenen, the vessel successfully freed itself and proceeded to Sundquay for an inspection.
