On January 8, 2020, a crew member aboard the bulk carrier 'Lowlands Amstel' required urgent medical evacuation approximately 30 miles off the coast of Cabo Corrubedo. The vessel, which was navigating from Rouen to Tema, prompted its captain to call for assistance from Salvamento Marítimo. In response, the Helimer 402 helicopter was dispatched to the scene. The highly-skilled team successfully lifted the patient and transported him to Santiago de Compostela airport, where an ambulance was prepared to rush him to the hospital.
