Truck Incident on KMP 'Jatra II' Amidst Storm in Sunda Strait
On February 6, 2022, the KMP 'Jatra II' experienced a significant challenge as a truck carrying bananas overturned in its car deck during a fierce storm in the Sunda Strait. This incident unfortunately led to the truck colliding with two parked vehicles onboard. The adverse weather conditions were severe, with waves reaching an estimated height of four meters around Merak Banten Port. As a precautionary measure, the PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Merak Branch made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Executive Pier at Banten Merak Port due to safety concerns.
