Eleanor D Grounded in Gulf of Siam: Swift Salvage Operation Success
On December 6, 2015, at 6:12 a.m., the bulk carrier "Eleanor D" found itself aground near Phu Quoc island in the Gulf of Siam. The ship was making its journey from Laem Chabang to Singapore, carrying an impressive cargo of over 60,000 tons of sand. Salvo efforts began almost immediately, and on December 7, the Vietnamese tugboat "CSB 9903" (IMO: 9625255) was deployed to assist in the refloating operation. Despite battling high waves and fierce winds that challenged the salvage efforts, the tugboat's crew persevered. After an unsuccessful initial attempt at 7 a.m., they changed tactics and managed to pull the vessel free at 10:45 a.m. Remarkably, no significant damage was reported to the "Eleanor D," allowing her to continue her voyage as planned.
