Collision Incident Involving Jin Xing in Chittagong

Nov 29, 2010 09:43

On October 20, 2010, the Chinese bulk carrier 'Jin Xing', with IMO number 9313278, encountered a significant incident while discharging cargo on the outer road of Chittagong. The vessel, which was anchored at the time, began to drift after dragging its anchor and subsequently collided with two other vessels: the Korean bulk carrier 'BK Ace' and the Syrian bulk carrier 'Khaled Ben Muhieddine'. This unfortunate event resulted in hull damages for all three ships involved. While the Jin Xing appears to have escaped regulatory consequences from Bangladeshi authorities, both the BK Ace and the Khaled Ben Muhieddine were detained and, as of November 28, 2010, remained anchored in Chittagong waters. This incident highlights ongoing maritime safety challenges in busy shipping lanes.
