Ferry Incident: 'Stallovarre' Grounded Off Levang
On November 29, 2019, at approximately 4:55 PM, the ferry 'Stallovarre' ran aground near Levang in Sandnessjøen while en route from Levang to Nesna. The vessel, which departed Levang at 4:40 PM, carried a total of eight passengers, four crew members, and five vehicles. Damage control efforts began at 5:05 PM, and by 6:40 PM, all passengers were safely transferred to the ferry 'Himmeltind' and taken ashore. In response to the incident, a diving boat from JR Dykkerservice and the tugboat 'BOA Frigg' were dispatched to provide assistance. Due to this occurrence, the ferry service for the remainder of the day was suspended, forcing drivers to take an alternative route via the E6 through Mo i Rana. The Boreal company is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the grounding. Ferry 'Sigrid' Assists 'Stallovarre' Following Technical Malfunction in Hjelmeland
On the morning of March 18, 2019, residents of Hjelmeland witnessed the ferry 'Sigrid' (IMO: 9030369) pulling the troubled 'Stallovarre' from its berth at the local ferry dock. The 'Stallovarre', having encountered unexpected technical difficulties, was removed from service on the Hjelmeland - Nesvik - Skipavik route. This ferry had been operating as a backup for the Hjelmelandssband route and remained inactive in Hjelmeland for the remainder of the day. Ferry Incident on Hardanger Fjord: Stallovarre Runs Aground
On the evening of January 10, 2015, the ferry 'Stallovarre' went aground near Varaldsøy in the Hardanger Fjord. The Coast Guard vessel 'Ålesund' was dispatched to the scene and arrived around midnight to assist. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the crew of five aboard the ferry when it found itself stranded on an islet amidst heavy waves and strong gusts of wind while maneuvering towards the dock. The 'Ålesund' maintained a vigilant presence throughout the night until the rescue tug 'BB Worker' (IMO: 9360051) arrived on January 11 morning. After a two-hour effort, the tug successfully refloated the 'Stallovarre' at 11:06 a.m. and commenced towing it back to Varaldsøy.
