On September 17, 2014, the cargo vessel Vossdiep faced engine difficulties while navigating the Kiel Canal on its journey from Baltiysk to Nes Moudania. The ship had previously paused its journey in Kiel on September 14 at 9 a.m., just two days post-departure, for essential repairs at Scheer Port. After completing repairs, the Vossdiep set sail again on September 17 at 5:45 p.m. However, while traveling westbound through the Kiel Canal, the vessel was forced to anchor at the south side of Rade's fairway two hours later due to a ruptured hose. Fortunately, the crew managed to rectify the issue overnight. By September 18, shortly after 4 a.m., the Vossdiep entered the locks at Brunsbüttel and has since resumed its route in the North Sea, with an expected arrival date of September 29.
