On December 27, 2017, a dramatic medevac operation unfolded in the Annapolis anchorage when the U.S. Coast Guard successfully rescued a 41-year-old crew member from the vessel 'Kang Hong.' The emergency response was triggered when watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region received an urgent report indicating that the individual was suffering from symptoms akin to a stroke. Swift action followed as a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium was dispatched from Coast Guard Station Annapolis. Accompanying the Coast Guard crew were two paramedics from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, who provided crucial medical support.
