Working Conditions Aboard the Karibou

On the night of June 13, 2013, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) in Valencia received an urgent Mayday call from a yacht facing imminent sinking approximately 30 nautical miles off the Valencian coast. As the crew took refuge in a liferaft, immediate action was required. A helicopter was dispatched to the scene; however, the nearby vessel 'Fonneland,' which had just departed from Castello de la Plana, was directed to assist. The crew members were successfully rescued by the 'Fonneland' and later transferred to the helicopter, which transported them to Manises Airport. Thankfully, all individuals were unharmed and did not require any medical assistance, reuniting with their families upon arrival.
