Diana Shipping Secures Charter for Triton with Glencore Grain
Diana Shipping Inc. has successfully finalized a charter agreement for its panamax bulk carrier, Triton, with Glencore Grain based in Rotterdam. The arrangement is set for a duration of 11 to 14 months and will see the vessel operate at a daily rate of $6,800, excluding a 5% commission for third-party services. This charter is scheduled to start on October 29, 2023. The NYSE-listed shipping company expects this contract to yield approximately $2.14 million in gross revenue over the minimum duration of the time charter. Notably, the agreed daily rate represents a significant 36% decrease from the previously established rate of $9,250, which Glencore Grain was paying when Triton entered a 12-month contract on October 24, 2022. In today's market, the Baltic Panamax Index experienced a slight increase, rising 5 points to reach 696. Furthermore, the average timecharter rate for a 74,000-dwt vessel along the primary benchmark routes stands at $5,491 per day, reflecting an increase of $33 compared to the previous day.
