Kestrel Fisher Sets Sail: The Latest Addition to James Fisher Everard's Fleet
Today, the new oil products tanker, Kestrel Fisher, docked at Dublin Port, marking a significant milestone as the second vessel of a duo built to enhance James Fisher Everard's operations. The ship, with a deadweight tonnage of 7,072, arrived from Norway's Slagen refinery situated on the Oslofjord, and is now berthed at No.1 Oil Berth. Originally launched in June, Kestrel Fisher follows her elder sister, King Fisher, which debuted earlier this year, in March. Both tankers are part of the '8000' design series and were constructed at Damen Shipyards in Galati, Romania. Following their initial build, they underwent outfitting at Damen's Bergum yard located in Harlingen, Netherlands. Kestrel Fisher was officially christened by Michelle Hartnup before being delivered to her Dutch owners, De Opfeart Beheer. She is operated by James Fisher Everard on an open management basis, just like her sister ship. Measuring 104 meters in length, these double-hulled tankers feature 8,363 cubic meters of tank capacity split across 10 epoxy-coated tanks, designed to transport a wide range of products including gasoline, diesel oil, lubrication oil, and jet fuels. Offering comfortable accommodation for the captain and a crew of ten, the vessel also includes a single, en-suite guest cabin, ensuring a blend of functionality and comfort. The Kestrel Fisher and King Fisher are set to play pivotal roles in delivering essential fuel supplies to ports and oil refineries across Ireland, the UK, and north-western Europe.
Delivery of Damen Double Hull Oil Tanker 8000 to De Opfeart and James Fisher Everard
In late 2013, the Damen Double Hull Oil Tanker 8000, named âKestrel Fisher,â was officially handed over to Dutch management company De Opfeart Beheer. This delivery marks an important milestone in a dual-vessel transaction, as her sister ship, âKing Fisher,â was successfully delivered earlier in June 2013. Both tankers boast a deadweight capacity of 7,076 tons and offer an impressive volume of 8,363 cubic metres. The vessels were outfitted at the DSB yard in Harlingen, with their hulls crafted by Damen Shipyards in Galati, Romania. Notably, both vessels were sponsored by prominent figures in the oil trading sectorâMrs. Petra Gaensbacher and Mrs. Michelle Hartnup, who celebrated the christening of âKing Fisherâ and âKestrel Fisherâ respectively. These tankers are set to serve crucial roles in transporting gasoline, diesel oil, lubrication oils, and jet fuels across the British Isles, strengthening the supply chain within the region.
