On January 15, 2017, the cargo vessel 'Thorco Hilde' encountered an unexpected engine failure while navigating into the Holtenau locks of the Kiel Canal at approximately 5:45 PM, having just departed from Gdansk. The dedicated lock personnel promptly secured the stern of the vessel to the nearest bollard, while the foreship was also immobilized with ropes. Thanks to their swift response, more severe complications were successfully averted.
