On June 6, 2018, the 'Dharma Ferry 2', which was transporting 668 passengers, ran aground in the waters off Ketapang in West Kalimantan at approximately 2 p.m. Fortunately, all passengers were evacuated without incident. The ferry had set sail from Tanjung Emas Semarang Sukabangun port, en route to Pelabuhan Sukabangun Kabupaten Ketapang. During the evacuation, a coordinated effort by the rescue team ensured passenger safety and calm, allowing the 615 adults, 45 children, and 8 toddlers on board to evacuate peacefully. The operation utilized the 'Ponton GT 265', which was towed alongside patrol boats and inflatable vessels. The ferry found itself stranded at geographic coordinates 01°44'49.8"S and 109°52'21.0"E, hindered by low tide. In addition to the passengers, the vessel was also transporting 14 trucks, 28 motorcycles, and 13 private vehicles. Local authorities were on standby, awaiting high tide to facilitate the refloating of the ferry and tow it back to Sukabangun port.
