The fate of the 'Kunpeng', an LNG tanker currently facing sanctions, is in limbo after India's reported decision to decline restricted Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG). Initially, the vessel signaled Dahej as its destination on April 14, 2026. However, it made a significant change on April 19, switching from “Hong Kong” to “Dahej India.” While navigating the waters near the Riau Archipelago off the coast of Singapore, the 'Kunpeng' updated its Automatic Identification System (AIS) destination once more, changing from “IN DAH” to “TBA.” This tanker has come under scrutiny, having been blacklisted by both the UK and Ukraine due to its involvement in Russian trading activities, after loading LNG from the sanctioned Portovaya terminal in Russia.
