The Kv-Harstad: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On February 22, 2011, the KV Harstad (IMO 9312107) encountered a significant setback as a pump malfunction occurred while the vessel was navigating through the challenging waters near Lyngør. The adverse ice and weather conditions contributed to this failure, resulting in the unfortunate leakage of approximately 20 cubic meters of oil. The spill posed a risk as it drifted toward Aust-Agder, prompting immediate action. A helicopter was dispatched to monitor the movement of the slick, and response teams quickly initiated efforts to control and mitigate the environmental impact of the spill.
