The ship had departed from Ghent on November 15, en route to Hull, and upon its arrival in Hull, the presence of these illegal immigrants was confirmed. On November 20, 2019, at precisely 09:55 a.m., the cargo vessel 'Korsoe,' which had departed from Ust-Luga on November 16 and was en route to Rouen with an expected arrival on November 22, encountered an allision in the old northern lock of the Kiel Canal located in Brunsbüttel. The incident occurred during a challenging navigation period characterized by dense fog, reducing visibility to less than 50 meters. As the 'Korsoe' made its westbound transit, it became entangled with a lock railing, resulting in the port side position lantern being torn off and causing damage to the railing as well. In response, the vessel's crew promptly conducted welding repairs to detach the damaged lantern and replace it effectively. Following an investigation by the Water Police in Brunsbüttel, the 'Korsoe' completed its repairs and departed the lock at 12:30 p.m. Subsequently, the ship continued its journey after finalizing repairs on the Elbe waterways.
