Tanker 'Larus' Sets Sail for Klaipeda After Storm Delay
On January 9, 2024, the oil tanker 'Larus' successfully departed from berth 25 at the port of Brest, towed by the tugboat 'Serval' (IMO: 7636365). This journey marks the beginning of its repair trip to Klaipeda, following the settlement of towing expenses incurred when the vessel was assisted by 'Abeille Bourbon' during the severe Darragh storm on December 7, 2024. The tug 'Serval' had been anchored in Douarnenez Bay since December 10, waiting for the right moment to proceed. It made a brief stop at the western quay of the fifth basin in the port of Brest to refuel on January 8 before embarking on this significant tow. Crew members aboard the 'Serval', all of whom are Polish sailors, prepared the convoy for its long journey, taking advantage of suitable weather conditions for departure around 1 p.m. The estimated arrival date in Klaipeda is set for January 22, 2024.
