Working Conditions Aboard the Leiger

On August 16, 2018, the ferry 'Leiger' faced a significant operational setback due to bow thruster malfunctions. The vessel, which had anchored off Rohuküla at 8:15 p.m., found itself adrift at sea for several hours. By around 10 p.m., the ferry was successfully brought to a dock where technicians discovered the source of the issue—a fault in the bow thruster. In response, a specialized maintenance engineer was dispatched to diagnose the problem and estimate the repair timeline. During this period, ferry services were continued by 'Tiiu' and 'PL Mercandia'; however, both vessels had reduced capacity, leading to notable service disruptions. Fortunately, by 8 a.m. on August 17, the repairs on 'Leiger' were completed, paving the way for its return to service.
