On March 14, 2021, at precisely 11:50 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Lettland', which was transporting wood chips from Riga to Norrköping, encountered a mishap as it allided with a pier at berth DG-1 in Riga port. The incident resulted in significant damage to the ship's starboard side bow, leaving it with a considerable hole and denting. The pier also sustained damages in the collision. In response to the incident, a Letter of Understanding was established, amounting to 40,000 Euros, to address the damages incurred by the pier. Following repairs to the hull, the 'Lettland' successfully departed from port on March 18 at 3:25 p.m., with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) in Norrköping set for March 19.

On the night of February 21, 2012, the icebreaker 'Lettland' was involved in a collision with the cargo vessel 'EVA 316' during an icebreaking operation in the Gulf of Riga, while en route from Pärnu to Iggesund. The incident occurred near Kihnu and resulted in minor damage to both vessels. Fortunately, the damage was deemed minimal, allowing 'Lettland' to promptly resume its icebreaking tasks. In contrast, 'Lettland' sustained a 40x40 centimeter breach on its port side but continued its journey towards Iggesund without significant disruption.
