The Lima: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In a tragic turn of events, a stowaway aboard the cargo ship 'Skaftafell' lost their life after jumping overboard on the evening of October 3, 2014. The incident occurred while the vessel was anchored in the North Sea, not far from the Hook of Holland. Initially discovered earlier that afternoon by the crew, the Nigerian man was temporarily secured in a room on the ship. However, when the crew checked on him six hours later, he had vanished along with a life jacket and some personal belongings. At approximately 6:05 PM, the freighter triggered an alarm, prompting a search and rescue operation. Tragically, it was two hours later when the Coast Guard located the man in the water. Although he was still conscious at the time of recovery, he was quickly airlifted to a hospital in Rotterdam. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
