On January 15, 2017, the cargo vessel "Lisa" encountered a challenging situation while navigating the River Barrow. The ship, which was en route from Antwerp to Drogheda carrying a substantial load of 4,500 tons of dry goods, ran aground at Pink Rock while heading towards New Ross. After two days of distress, the exhausted crew of "Lisa" received assistance from multiple tugboats, which successfully freed the vessel on the morning of January 17.
