Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. proudly reported a remarkable rescue by its LNG carrier, LNG MALEO, on August 4, 2016, in the Pacific Ocean. The vessel, operating approximately 280 kilometers east of Mindanao, Republic of the Philippines, encountered a distress situation involving three castaways from a stranded fishing boat. At 16:35 local time, while en route from the Port of Luwuk, Republic of Indonesia, to the Port of Oita, Japan, the LNG MALEO's crew spotted the drifting fishermen. Without hesitation, the vessel altered its course to provide immediate assistance. Just over an hour later, at 17:53, the dedicated crew successfully brought all three survivors aboard. The compassionate efforts didn't stop there. On the morning of August 5, at 08:14, the heroic crew ensured the safety of the rescued individuals by handing them over to a Philippine Coast Guard-arranged rescue boat, highlighting their commitment to maritime safety and humanitarian aid in the region.
