The first vessel, the 2012-built Los Angeles, with a deadweight tonnage of 206,104 dwt, will extend its partnership with SwissMarine Services S.A., headquartered in Geneva. This deal will see the Los Angeles continue in service for a duration of thirteen to fifteen months, set to conclude no later than April 22, 2018. Notably, the daily gross charter rate for this Newcastlemax vessel is 14% higher than the BCI_2014 average based on the Baltic Exchange's five pre-defined time charter routes. The Los Angeles has been under SwissMarine's charter since December 2015, with the new agreement commencing on January 22, 2017. Additionally, Diana Shipping has solidified a second charter arrangement with BG Shipping Co., a Hong Kong-based firm, securing their Panamax vessel, Selina, for a duration of nine to twelve months. These contracts reflect Diana Shipping's strategic efforts to optimize its fleet operations in the competitive bulk market.
