Ferry 'Lote' Runs Aground in Skarberget: Incident Details and Aftermath
On February 28, 2026, at approximately 2:25 p.m., the ferry 'Lote', operating between Skarberget and Bognes, ran aground in Skarberget, Nordland, with a total of 18 individuals on board. Fortunately, the NSSR lifeboat 'Sundt Flyer' was stationed at Skarberget, ensuring safety for the 11 passengers and 7 crew members who were unharmed during the incident. In an effort to address the grounding, the shipping company initiated contact with tugboats for assistance. Additionally, two coast guard vessels were deployed to the scene. The ferry was scheduled to be refloated during the evening high tide at 9:31 p.m., using the tug 'Boss' (IMO: 910875) in coordination with the lifeboat. Subsequently, the ferry was successfully towed to the quay, allowing passengers to disembark safely. Accompanying the operation was the tug 'BB Connector' (IMO: 9451549). The grounding of the 'Lote' obstructed the quay, impacting the operations of the ferry 'Glutra' until the morning hours of March 1. Following this, 'Lote' was transported to the Lødingen Mekaniske shipyard for necessary repairs and remained stationary there as of March 5. Meanwhile, operator Fjord 1 commenced efforts to secure a replacement ferry to manage service interruptions, including additional sailings on the Drag-Kjøpsvik route to accommodate affected passengers.
