On May 31, 2017, at 7:50 a.m., a notable maritime incident occurred in Tokyo Bay involving the bulk carrier 'JP Cosmos' and the tanker 'Kiyosato Maru.' The collision took place southeast of Minami, where the 'JP Cosmos,' carrying a crew of 12 and loaded with 6,220 tons of coal, struck the bow of the 'Kiyosato Maru.' The tanker, which was transporting 2,000 tons of naphtha and had departed from Nagoya, sustained a puncture above the waterline but fortunately resulted in no spillage.
