On the evening of November 5, 2013, the cargo vessel 'Lysvik Seaways' encountered a maritime mishap as it ran aground in the Svine Sound, located between the historic and modern Svinesund bridges on the Norwegian side. The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. while the ship, which was transporting a load of paper, was navigating under challenging weather conditions characterized by dense fog and strong currents. Thankfully, the vessel was under the guidance of a pilot at the time. During the grounding, the hull of the 'Lysvik Seaways' sustained significant damage, specifically a breach in its ballast tank, leading to an influx of roughly 130 cubic meters of seawater. In response to the emergency, local police boarded the vessel to assess the situation, interviewing both the ship's captain and the pilot. After evaluating the damage and conditions, the crew successfully managed to refloat the ship using its own power and subsequently docked at Saugbrugs-Quay.
