On the morning of April 7, 2016, the owners of a fishing vessel lodged a maritime protest with the Philippine Coast Guard, alleging that the bulk carrier 'Madredeus' was responsible for damaging their boat. The incident occurred while the fishing vessel was anchored near Sampaloc Point in San Antonio, Mindanao. A passing ship snagged the boat’s anchor cable, causing it to be dragged along and resulting in significant damage. In the chaos, two out of three crew members fell overboard, narrowly escaping drowning. Meanwhile, the 'Madredeus' continued its course northward and is reported to be currently anchored in Kaohsiung after its journey from Indonesia to Taiwan.
