On the morning of October 25, 2019, a sailing yacht carrying a crew of two found itself in peril due to a damaged rig while navigating the Baltic Sea north of Zingst. With stormy weather conditions worsening, the yacht began to drift dangerously towards the Baltic 1 wind farm, at risk of colliding with its towering wind turbine structures. The lifeboat 'Theo Fischer' was dispatched but could not reach the scene quickly enough to avert a potential disaster. Fortunately, the nearby freighter 'Maike' stepped in to provide critical assistance. Despite the challenging maritime conditions, the freighter successfully towed the incapacitated yacht to safety, maintaining its position until the lifeboat's arrival. The towline was efficiently passed over to the lifeboat, which then escorted the yacht to safety at the emergency port of Darßer Ort.
