Bow Thruster Failure Causes Allision Near Beauharnois
On November 21, 2019, at approximately 5:15 PM, the vessel 'Bluewing' experienced a bow thruster malfunction while navigating 1.7 miles west of Beauharnois, Quebec, at coordinates 45°19'09.4" N, 73°55'01.4" W. This technical failure resulted in the ship colliding with the approach wall of the Beauharnois lock. Fortunately, there were no reports of damage sustained by either the vessel or the dock. Following the incident, the 'Bluewing' resumed its journey and successfully docked in Port Colborne on November 24.
