Japanese shipping company Kambara Kisen, known for its ties to Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, is actively divesting its bulk carrier fleet in response to the ongoing challenges in the dry bulk sector. This year alone, the company has placed several vessels on the market, with the latest transactions involving two newbuild kamsarmaxes set for delivery later this year and an 11-year-old handymax vessel. In a noteworthy acquisition, Nisshin Shipping, a fellow Japanese operator, has purchased the two kamsarmaxes for $22 million each, marking a notable entrance into the buying market for Nisshin, which had predominantly focused on selling dry bulk vessels this year. Furthermore, Kambara Kisen recently called for bids on the Tess 52 design handymax Triple Ever, with market insights from Clarksons Research suggesting that an unnamed buyer from Singapore has secured the vessel for $7.5 million. With these latest transactions, Kambara Kisen has successfully sold a total of 10 ships throughout 2023.
