On September 13, 2024, the cargo vessel 'Manisa Greta', while making its way from Mindelo, encountered engine failure close to Las Palmas port. Prompt action was taken by the CCS Las Palmas of Salvamento Marítimo, which deployed the Search and Rescue (SAR) vessel 'Miguel de Cervantes'. Under challenging nighttime conditions, 'Miguel de Cervantes' successfully established a towing connection with the stricken cargo ship. Due to adverse weather conditions, the maneuver to transfer the ship to the port tugs was delayed until the following morning when the daybreak provided safer conditions.
