Tragic Incident Claims Life of Bosun During Cargo Operations in Jacksonville
A tragic accident occurred on January 2, 2022, during wood chip loading operations aboard the 'Maple' when a Turkish bosun was fatally injured. The incident transpired at the Keystone loading terminal in Jacksonville, where the bosun became trapped between the ship's deck and a mobile crane positioned on the shore. Immediate assistance was provided by a port emergency team, alongside the crew aboard the vessel, who administered first aid. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the bosun succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, his body was respectfully moved to a local hospital morgue. To ensure a thorough understanding of the events, the harbour master and the local public prosecutor initiated an investigative file. After the investigation as well as the completion of the cargo loading operations, the 'Maple' departed Jacksonville on January 16 and arrived in Gebze on February 6.
