Daewoo Shipbuilding Celebrates Milestone with Delivery of 100th LNG Tanker
In a significant achievement for the maritime industry, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has proudly announced the delivery of its 100th liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker on July 25. The vessel, named Maran Amphipolis, departed from DSME's cutting-edge shipyard located in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, on July 23. The journey into LNG tanker construction for DSME began in 1992, with the first delivery taking place in 1995. Currently, there are 422 LNG tankers operating worldwide. With an impressive backlog of 50 additional LNG tankers on order, DSME is poised to surpass its competitor Samsung Heavy Industries, which has delivered a total of 104 LNG tankers, to achieve the title of the globe's leading LNG tanker builder.
