Lene D Encounters Trouble on the Trave River
On June 1, 2016, the vessel 'Lene D' experienced a precarious moment on the Trave River near Schlutup when a sudden gust of wind unexpectedly nudged it off course. The ship was preparing to depart from the Nordgetreide wharf in Lübeck-Schlutup, en route to Szczecin. At approximately 2:40 p.m., as it maneuvered away from the quay, the vessel strayed towards its port side and ultimately became immobilized on the sandy riverbed. Emergency measures were swiftly put in place as the tugboat 'Simson' was summoned for assistance. By 4:30 p.m., the 'Simson' successfully extricated the 'Lene D' from its predicament. Authorities from the water police responded promptly with their vessels, 'Greif' and 'Sperber'. The 'Lene D' was able to resume its journey after docking at Lehmann Quay for a hull inspection by divers at 4:45 p.m. The ship was cleared for departure by 8 p.m. and set sail once more at 10 p.m., reaching its destination in Szczecin by around 10 p.m. on June 2.
