The cargo ship had run aground at a location near latitude 17 degrees, 19 minutes north, and longitude 88 degrees, 2 minutes west, specifically around two miles southeast of English Caye. In response, a swift response team was mobilized, including personnel from the National Coast Guard and the Department of Environment. Upon reaching the vessel, the teams discovered that the MV Paranga was en route to Kingston, Jamaica when a navigational error led the crew to miscalculate water depths. Fortunately, preliminary assessments from the Coast Guard indicated that the vessel did not come into contact with any sections of the barrier reef, dispelling earlier concerns.
