What Crew Members Say About Miho-Pracat

On October 20, 2018, at approximately 1:30 PM, the CROSS Joburg received an urgent report concerning a crew member aboard the "Miho Pracat" who was experiencing severe discomfort. The vessel was located 26 miles northwest of Cherbourg, situated within the Casquets traffic separation scheme. The CROSS promptly connected the ship's crew with the maritime medical consultation center (CCMM) in Toulouse and the maritime medical coordination service (SAMU) in Le Havre, where they advised that a medevac was necessary. To facilitate the emergency evacuation, a Dragon 50 helicopter from the Civil Security base in Granville was dispatched, carrying a medical team specialized in maritime emergencies and resuscitation services, alongside a member of the fire and rescue service (SDIS 50). At around 4:20 PM, after receiving medical attention from the onboard medical personnel, the affected sailor was successfully hoisted into the helicopter. They were promptly airlifted to Caen, arriving by 7:00 PM to receive further medical care. This swift response highlighting coordinated maritime rescue efforts ensured the sailor received timely medical assistance in critical circumstances.
