Grounding Incident of Bulk Carrier Mildred at Ereğli Port
On October 23, 2024, the bulk carrier 'Mildred', which was loaded with 85,000 tons of iron ore, experienced a grounding incident at the entrance of the Ereğli Iron and Steel Factories (ERDEMİR) port. The initial assessment by the ERDEMİR pilot boats led to a swift notification to the Karadeniz Ereğli Port Authority, prompting them to close all vessel entrances to the port. After divers conducted their inspection, tugboats were able to successfully refloat the Mildred, allowing it to berth for further evaluation.
