Working Conditions Aboard the Mjoelner-fur

On the afternoon of August 6, the ferry 'Mjølner', while making its approach to dock in Fur, collided with the quay. The impact was significant, resulting in the detachment of a fender from the edge of the pier and causing a piece of rubber to become lodged in the vessel's propeller. In response to the situation, divers were deployed to inspect the extent of the damage. After assessing the situation, it was determined that the 'Mjølner' would not be able to continue its operations, leaving the community of Fur without ferry access for several hours. The cause of the incident was attributed to strong gusts of wind in the area. To mitigate the disruption, a backup ferry, the 'Mary', was dispatched from the Sundsøre-Hvalpsund route at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, the 'Mjølner' underwent repairs and awaited clearance from the Danish Maritime Authority. The ferry was successfully returned to service on the morning of August 7, allowing the 'Mary' to resume its regular operations.
