Trawler 'Monsun' Successfully Towed to Safety After Propeller Incident
On the evening of January 6, 2025, the trawler 'Monsun', which had departed from Egersund on January 3, encountered mechanical problems when its propeller was damaged off the coast of Bergen. The vessel, struggling in challenging sea conditions, sent out a distress signal for assistance. A nearby ship responded and took the 'Monsun' in tow around 11 p.m. As the convoy approached the shoreline—just 12 miles from land—the operation shifted to the lifeboat 'Kristian Gerhard Jebsen 2' (MMSI: 258144000), which was launched from the NSSR station in Bergen. The trawler was ultimately brought to the quay at Sotra in Bergen, arriving safely at 2 p.m. on January 7.
