On the evening of August 8, 2013, at precisely 11:10 PM, the autotransporter 'Queen Sapphire' collided with the quay adjacent to the basin near Kaiser Lock in Bremerhaven. The vessel was under the guidance of two tugboats while navigating from Kaiser Port to the car terminal when it unexpectedly struck the pier at Geo-Plate-St. The cause of the incident remains undetermined. As a result of the allision, both the pier and the ship sustained damage. Notably, a breach was discovered on the starboard side stern of the hull, situated above the waterline. Subsequently, the ship was detained for inspections and was docked at North Port. After repairs, 'Queen Sapphire' resumed its journey on August 10, setting course for Antwerp with an estimated time of arrival at 8 PM.
