AG Ems Secures Funding to Retrofit MÜNSTERLAND for LNG Dual Fuel Propulsion
In a significant move towards greener maritime solutions, AG Ems, a prominent ferry operator, has announced plans to extend and convert its passenger/vehicle ferry MÜNSTERLAND, weighing 1,859 GT and built in 1986, to an LNG dual fuel propulsion system. This initiative comes on the heels of the German Government's commitment to support the transition of vessels to more environmentally friendly propulsion systems. With funding from Berlin, this conversion will mark the second time AG Ems has upgraded its fleet for LNG operation, following the successful retrofit of the OSTFRIESLAND back in 2015.
