On April 9, 2017, a dramatic near miss occurred in the Bay of Gibraltar when the bulk carrier 'Furious' (IMO 9398735) almost collided with the vessel 'Maritime Unity'. The incident unfolded around 6:30 p.m. as 'Furious' was departing the harbor, while a sudden gust of wind caused the 'Maritime Unity' to veer perilously close to the bulk carrier. Fortunately, the two ships managed to avoid contact, with 'Maritime Unity' continuing her journey to Bejaia, expected to arrive on April 11.
