On July 3, 2025, a significant maritime incident occurred off the coast of Lucena City in Quezon province when the fishing vessel 'Sr. Fernando II' collided head-on with the ferry 'Peñafrancia VI'. The collision took place at approximately 7 a.m., shortly after the ferry set sail from Talao-Talao Port, carrying 82 passengers along with 18 crew members.
